March was a deadly month for trespassing incidents

Our lives have changed a lot during the COVID-19 pandemic. But that doesn’t mean we can stop following the rail safety rules. Trains haven’t stopped running, and they can arrive at any time from either direction.

Unfortunately, taking risks on and around railway tracks and property can end in tragedy. In March, three Canadians lost their lives trespassing on railway property, and another two were seriously injured.

Don’t be another statistic. Trespassing—which includes walking along or beside train tracks, using tracks or rail yards as a shortcut, or climbing on trains—is not only illegal, but it can be deadly. Stay clear of all railway property and tracks—and stay alive.
