A rail safety message from locomotive engineer, Tom Bozyk
Tom Bozyk is not only a locomotive engineer, who has been working in the railway industry for 25-plus years, but also a very valued Operation Lifesaver volunteer and partner.
Throughout his career, he’s encountered countless near misses – people trespassing on the tracks; drivers racing the train at a level crossing; impatient commuters driving around the gates. Every single one has had a lasting impact on him. Just imagine: seeing someone on the tracks ahead of you and knowing that you can’t swerve the train and you can’t stop in time.
But you don’t have to take our word for it. Instead,
listen to Tom describe, in his own words, what it’s like to be the driver of the train when an incident happens.
