Crossing and trespassing fatalities up in July

For the past six months, Canadians have been focused on protecting themselves from an unseen threat: COVID-19. But the virus isn’t the only danger out there.

Operation Lifesaver wants to remind Canadians that trains can also be incredibly deadly—if people don’t follow the rail safety rules. Last month, six Canadians lost their lives in railway crossing and trespassing incidents. That’s three times as many deaths compared to July 2019.

Together, we can prevent these tragic deaths from occurring. Whether you’re driving a car, riding a bike, or out walking, it’s critical that you heed all railway warning signs and signals. They’re there for a reason—to save lives!
