Radio and TV Stations Big Help in Life-saving Effort
OTTAWA - Canada has become a world leader in reducing deaths and injuries along railway lines, thanks in part to radio and TV stations. They have been donating airtime over the past few years, resulting in over 25,000 airings. While the grim numbers have been rising in virtually all other industrialized countries, rail deaths in Canada reached a 21-year low of 79 in 2003 as a result of the change in behaviour from drivers and pedestrians.
