Happy New Year! With 2011 officially behind us, it's time to look ahead to 2012. If you're like many people, this can include making New Year's resolutions. While the traditional goals to lose weight, get fit and eat better are definitely good ways to increase your life expectancy, we thought you might be looking to switch it up a little this year. And so, here are the top three rail safety resolutions you can make to ensure you'll be alive to see 2013:

  1. Become familiar with the various signs and devices that can be found around railway property and learn their meanings.
  2. Take some time to learn as much as you can about railway safety. We offer a vast number of learning materials for various audiences, including the Operation Lifesaver website, the OL Kids site and tons of downloadable learning resources.
  3. Share your knowledge! Make sure that your family and friends have the same rail safety knowledge that you have - that way everyone you care about will live through the year.
