Summer is supposed to be fun—not deadly
Summer is all about being outdoors, relaxing and hanging out with friends and family. But keep your summertime fun away from train tracks. If you don’t, you could be risking your life.
On July 4th, a
teenage boy was killed by a passenger train in Surrey, a suburb of Vancouver. The boy was part of a group of about 30 teens who were partying at a popular beach near the rail line. The group had gathered to watch the fourth of July fireworks.
According to witnesses, the boy was playing on the tracks with several other teens when a northbound train came along. The other boys were able to get off the tracks in time, but he was not.
Let’s work together to stop tragedies like this from happening. Follow the rail safety rules to ensure the summer of 2018 is not only a fun one, but a safe one. And share these simple rules with your friends and family—it could save a life.
