April rail stats: Another deadly month for trespassing
Every month, we publish the number of railway crossing and trespassing incidents across the country. Our hope is that by drawing attention to these tragedies, we will see the number of injuries and fatalities go down dramatically.
Unfortunately, that drop isn’t happening—especially when it comes to trespassing.
In March 2018, six Canadians lost their lives while trespassing on railway property and four others were seriously injured. In April, another four people were killed in trespassing incidents and four others were seriously injured. It is time to stop these tragic incidents from happening.
Remember, every incident is preventable—and even one death is too many. Please help us to save lives. Spread the rail safety message.
