If you try to race a train—you will ALWAYS lose!
We here at Operation Lifesaver have said it time and time again: Never try to race a train to a crossing because even in a tie, you lose! By adhering to this advice, you can help prevent collisions.
This is the subject of one of last year’s
Off the Rails Contest winning entries. In this hard-hitting rail safety video, the Gwang team, from Saskatoon, Sask., made the theme of their video clear:
make safety your top priority when crossing the tracks.
The Gwang team - Project #234: Third-place winners in French multimedia category
Since this video is in French, we’ve written this brief synopsis for our English viewers:
The Gwang team showcased a series of strong and impactful images that drive home the message of making rail safety a top priority when you’re behind the wheel. They also threw in some in-your-face statistics, which resonate with the viewer and asks the question:
- “Do you want to lose your life?”
- Between 1999 and 2013, 332 people died, on average, every year, hitting trains.
