Train to Drive for all drivers

Play the video below or select another device — such as mobile or tethered headset — to experience “Train to Drive for All Drivers.” Now get in the driver's seat, and put your rail safety knowledge to the test!

Download the Viar360 Player app in the Google Play store.
Open app.
Enter subdomain: roundcontent
Enter email: guest@operationlifesaver.ca
Enter password:  lifesaver
Press ‘Sign In’.
Select one of the available experiences.
Click ‘Download’ to download it to your mobile device. You will be presented with an option to download various sizes—1080 is adequate, and 4K is best. 
Once downloaded, press ‘Play’ to start experience.
 
Carboard mode
Press ‘Cardboard’ if you are going to put the device in a cardboard VR viewer. In this mode, look around to see your surroundings. To select an option, point the small for in the middle of your view at an option and hold it on the desired option.
 
Panorama mode
Press ‘Panorama’ if you are viewing the experience without a VR viewer. In this mode, touch the screen and move to look around. Click on any button to select an option.

TIPS FOR DRIVERS

Below are some quick rail safety driving tips, as well as more detailed tip sheet that you can download to print or share. Be sure to follow these tips when you’re behind the wheel—they could save your life.

 

 

Avoid distractions and stay alert at all times behind the wheel.

 

Know your warning signs and signals.

 

​Be aware of other road users such as cyclists, pedestrians, and vehicles that may be required to stop at rail crossings.

​


Slow down and be prepared to stop when approaching a rail crossing.



Never race a train to a rail crossing.

 

At active crossings, remain stopped until the gates are fully raised and the lights stop flashing.



Always look and listen for trains before proceeding through a crossing.

 


Leave your vehicle if it stalls or gets stuck on the tracks, and immediately call the railway or 911 to stop rail traffic.
