Look. Listen. Live. Community Safety Partnership Program

In 2018, Operation Lifesaver partnered with HUB Surface Systems to launch the Look. Listen. Live. Community Safety Partnership Program. The program encourages municipalities to work to prevent railway crossing incidents by installing Look. Listen. Live. decals on the pavement near select crossings in their communities.

Partnering With

The Look. Listen. Live. Community Safety Partnership Program provides participating communities with the following benefits:

  • Look. Listen. Live. Community Safety Decals are supplied at no cost. Crossing locations must be approved by the railway(s), the municipality, and Operation Lifesaver.
  • A public unveiling of the decals during Rail Safety Week. If supported by the municipality, the unveiling of the decals is marked by an official launch event, with the participation of city council members and the local media.

If your community would like to participate in the program, or if you would like more information, please contact us.

So far, 98 municipalities from coast to coast are participating in the Look. Listen. Live. Community Safety Partnership Program and have installed rail-safety decals or signage in their communities.

Recreation Burnaby

We are pleased to have installed rail-safety decals at Barnet Marine Park in partnership with oplifesaver. This program aims to make the public more aware of the hazards around rail crossings, which will hopefully save lives. Every year, dozens of Canadians are killed or seriously injured in collisions at railway crossings. Sadly, virtually all these tragedies were preventable. Don't forget to slow down, look in both directions, listen for approaching trains, and obey all railway warning signs and signals. #LookListenLive

Operation Lifesaver

CBNS Railway and Stellarton unveiled #LookListenLive decals at the town’s Acadia Ave. crossing yesterday to mark #RSW2022. Stellarton is the fifth N.S. municipality to join OL’s Community Safety Partnership Program. Welcome aboard!

Morden Fire & Rescue

Trains don’t pass through Morden every day, which can lead to complacency at rail crossings. To help keep pedestrians alert, new sidewalk decals have been installed on 9th Street as part of Operation Lifesaver’s national safety initiative with rail companies. These signs remind people to stop, look, and listen before crossing the tracks. Staying aware of railway warning signs and signals is crucial—it could save your life. Always stay alert, avoid distractions, cross only at designated areas, and take extra care when using strollers or wheelchairs.

City of Brampton

Today, the City of Brampton in partnership with Operation Lifesaver Canada and HUB Surface Systems, unveiled new railway safety decals at the Brampton GO Station as part of the Look. Listen. Live. Community Safety Partnership Program. Brampton’s Road Operations team will be installing eight decals at rail crossings in the city including: - Four decals at Mill Street and Railroad Street; and - Four decals at James Street and Johns Street. Look. Listen. Live. Safety is your responsibility.
